Stant invented the locking gas cap in 1932 in response to gasoline theft during the Great Depression. Most US-Cars and trucks come from the factory without a locking gas cap. As the fuel prices are raised frequently, the investment of a locking gas cap could be a good idea to prevent fuel theft :-)
